Invest in Education Abroad

The Office for Education Abroad provides high-quality learning abroad programs and excellent services to cultivate globally-engaged citizen leaders who are ready to change the world. Administering over 275 programs in more than 60 countries on every continent, MSU is proud to be ranked among the top U.S. institutions for education abroad for more than 20 years.

They are on a wooden platform with thick foliage behind them, and a sign that reads, in Spanish, Estación de Biodiversidad TiputiniEvery year, thousands of Spartans engage in cultures different from their own and gain meaningful skills that can position them for academic and professional success. In addition to students traveling abroad for study, the Office for Education Abroad welcomes international students from all over the world through the American Semester Program (ASP) and the facilitation of exchanges between MSU and partner institutions.

It is our vision that all Spartans, regardless of demographic background, academic discipline, or financial need, are able to engage in international study that advances global learning and disciplinary scholarship. Education abroad provides valuable opportunities for students to engage in a diverse environment and develop skills they will use on campus and after they graduate.

Over the past year, COVID-19 has demonstrated more than ever that we are globally connected and that cross-cultural understanding is vital. It has also created economic challenges that may make it difficult for students to make education abroad a reality. Your support could make a direct impact on the lives of our Spartan community.

Video: Nancy Tumbarell, an MSU senior global and international studies major, discusses her year abroad studying Japanese language, history and politics at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. During her time in Tokyo, she was involved in several on-campus clubs that facilitated Japanese-English language exchange. The MSUFCU and other scholarships Nancy received helped make this possible!

MSU Federal Credit Union Endowment Fund

The MSU Federal Credit Union Study Abroad Scholarship supports MSU students in all majors to participate in an education abroad program. The endowed scholarship is aimed at students who excel at academics and demonstrate financial need. This makes an international experience obtainable for many deserving Spartans.
