Michigan State University offers a unique educational opportunity for college students across the nation, interested in coursework in KIN, ISS, IAH, SSC or HDFS that is both culturally and sport oriented. This program offers a rigorous academic program together with high-level sports training, and an opportunity for integration with local Australians.
Students attend classes, fieldtrips, and sports training for four weeks in Australia. Any student who has been on a varsity sport, intramural, or club team in high school or college is eligible to enroll in this program.
The program is based on the Australian east coast in the cities of Melbourne and Sydney. Students attend classes, study and train and interact with Australians. Students spend the first week in Melbourne then three weeks in Sydney.
Coursework is spread across the five weeks, and sport training occurs in Sydney. Students gain an insight into the elite coaching methods of the Victorian Institute of Sports, one of several Olympic Training Centers. The program fosters international competition and cross-cultural understanding.
