Education Abroad Welcomes New Assistant Director

Mr. Lewis Cardenas joined the Office for Education Abroad on May 22, 2017 as the Assistant Director of International Partnerships and Special Programs.  In this role, he will focus on strategic partnerships, recruitment and marketing with international partners and institutions.

Mr. Cardenas joins MSU with a strong passion for international education and an academic background in international studies and international public service and non-profit management.

Prior to Michigan State University, Lewis served as the Dean of International Enrollment at Saint Peter's University in New Jersey, Associate Director of Admission and International Student Services at the Metropolitan College of New York, and Director of International Student Recruitment at Albion College in Michigan.

Proud of his educational outreach around the world, Lewis has traveled to over 110 countries and all seven continents.  He has presented at conferences sponsored by EducationUSA, NAFSA: Association of International Educators, Council of International Schools, and the International Association for College Admission Counseling. 

Lewis looks forward to working with the greater MSU community in expanding the University's global footprint and strengthening MSU's inbound and outbound student programs.
